I heard the kid actors were pretty awful.

Now I loved the series so that does give me bias. But I thought it was horrible. The 5 minutes of dancing to do one bending technique was dumb. The main 3 "actors" were cringe worthy. The making of the avatar to less of a badass was disappointing to. Without going into it more since you'll watch the cartoon, you see how much better written and thought out the series is. The uncle was the only part of the movie I liked but he is great in the cartoon to. He should be given an award just for being in it.

I hate to completely disagree but here it goes....

Having watched the original series, I have to say that M. Night didn't understand what he was working with. First of all your right G, its cool too see the different styles incorporated in the different bending techniques but it was done much better in the show. They did do a tiny dance to do one move... they did the move's during the Kata. It gave them power, it made them different and special... these actors just look special and not in a good way. The fact that the fire benders don't create their own fire is madding. You effectively make their entire clan look worthless without their element and that's stupid. The character development is non exsistant and I'm sorry even kids like to see some sort of character in a movie. The most developed character they had was Zuko and even he wasn't really developed properly. They made the avatar state just this thing that Aang does, and thats stupid. In the show he struggled to get to the avatar state and in the beginning could only do it in times of extreme rage, THATS BAD ASS. For instance, at the climax of the movie when Aang made the giant wave OOOOOOOOOO (sarcasm), he had perfect control over his avatar state. Ok so why not just go fucking kill the fire lord... you've obviously mastered the only think you need to take him out. Another thing about that is the climax its self. They got several things right, but key things wrong. Like in the show, Aang see's that the moon has been distroyed and out of shear anger he goes into the avatar state and makes a giant "water monster" around his body controling the water and using it does obliterate the fire nations ships. THATS BAD ASS. Making a giant wave... is fucking pussy shit. Also, they pronounced names incorrectly from the source material. Why do that? People who know and love those characters are looking for them to be as close as possible to the fucking original's and you change the way you say their names... fuck you. Prob the most horrible thing of all was the acting. I understand that kid actors have a rough time. I saw the first harry potter movies, the actings terrible, but its still an enjoyable movie because the kid actors are enjoyable to watch. There's no way in hell you could convince me that Katara will eventually learn Blood bending and healing through water bending or that Sokka would eventually become a warrior and a leader of the resistance. They just don't bring the believability that people need to see a story unfold.

Before I get more angry I'm going to stop. I feel my case has been made by these few (of the many) instances. I'm glad you enjoyed it G, but if you really want to enjoy the story and characters, Watch the series. You'll understand the hate. FUCK YOU M. NIGHT!!!!

Also, if you have netflix all of the season's are on the instant queue right now.

I would imagine the issue stems from not seeing the series. If I were to watch it, I imagine I would have the same reaction as you guys. Damn you all are haters
